About

JFT is a proud Mancunian singer songwriter whose contemplative and heartfelt indiepop gems are like an old friend you haven’t seen in years. Familiar and relatable because of your shared history, and dark because of the distance between you. Following in the footsteps of some of his Manchester music idols, such as The Smiths, The Stone Roses and Oasis, JFT writes about love and heartbreak with a visceral northern charm that can be described as ‘Mancunian Noir’.

JFT spent years playing guitar alone in his bedroom before he started to write tunes to narrate his own life experiences on planet Earth. Starting out on classical guitar, he achieved his Grade 8 at the age of 15 before branching out into more mainstream rhythm and lead guitar playing.

On a trip to Thailand a street guitarist playing live with a loop pedal inspired JFT to start playing around with looping, now a core component of his live performances. Countless nights at open mics across London and Manchester have evolved into hundreds of songs that encapsulate his motto: “The journey is the thing, life is for the living.”
